The UX Designer II is responsible for independently owning the user-centred design for one or more products, often navigating ambiguous or complex problems with minimal oversight. In addition to research, analysis, design and evaluation, the Designer II is expected to influence product direction, mentor junior designers, and contribute to UX standards across the team
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, engineering, and UX team to design and deliver solutions that effectively achieve our business goals;
- Participate in engagements with SMEs, Product Managers, Product Owners and customers to understand user needs;
- Participate in understanding and developing personas, value streams, journey maps, storyboards, workflows, and low fidelity prototypes to communicate design ideas and help guide product definitions and development;
- Independently plan and execute UX research, selecting appropriate methods for the problem at hand such as design workshops, user surveys etc.;
- Work collaboratively with team members to translate business requirements into detailed application design solutions;
- Own the creation of application design concepts, including IA, UI flow, and design guidelines information architecture, user interface flow, wireframes mock-ups and other design guidelines;
- Lead end-user research efforts, build prototypes, and conduct testing with customers to validate designs through customer feedback and usability testing and use findings to justify design decisions to stakeholders;
- Contribute meaningfully to UX design guidelines, patterns, and the design system;
- Assists, as part of UX design chapter, with defining UX design guidelines, patterns, visual styles, and digital assets;
- Consistently applies and advocates for UX design principles, pushing back on solutions that don't serve users;
- Mentors and provides design feedback to Designer I / junior team members;
- Represents UX in cross-functional planning and roadmap discussions;
- Identifies UX debt or systemic usability issues proactively, rather than only responding to assigned work;
- Balances competing stakeholder priorities (e.g., engineering constraints, business goals, user needs) with reduced guidance from the UX Manager;
- Ensure timely delivery of designs while maintaining high quality.
Experience and Knowledge
- 3+ years of related UX Design experience;
- Bachelor’s Degree and training in user experience research, analysis, design, and usability, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading design work with minimal supervision;
- Experience mentoring or providing design critique to junior designers;
- Portfolio of previous work demonstrating successful design solutions;
- Manage conflict and work to find a way to maintain relationships;
- Experience with human factors, usability, interaction design, accessibility, and information architecture;
- Experience in cloud platforms and mining software a plus;
- Experience with user-centric design processes;
- Willingness to travel to our customers' sites.

Travel required: Minimal (5% - 10%)
Base salary of $75,000 - $92,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
