Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and mentorship in repairing and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in mechanical systems, specialize in Off Road, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely in a dynamic environment. This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in industrial equipment repair, welding, electrical systems, and more, with the goal of becoming a skilled heavy-duty mechanic.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing and repairing compact equipment such as Compact Track Loaders, Skid Steers and farm machinery.
- Learn to perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic schematics to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Support the disassembly and assembly of machinery components following technical specifications.
- Participate in welding and fabrication tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment during all maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used during repairs.
- Gain experience operating heavy equipment under supervision as part of training.
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge with an interest in compact equipment repair.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn about dealership service procedures, HVAC systems, automotive repair, and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
- Prior experience or familiarity with excavator operation, crane operation, Caterpillar machinery, forklift operation, or farm machinery is desirable but not required. This Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice position is designed for individuals eager to develop technical skills in heavy equipment maintenance while gaining practical experience in a professional setting.
Pay: $20.29-$43.97 per hour
