Job Description
JPD Contracting is looking for an experienced Civil Pipe Layer to join our team for full-time work on civil construction projects in Surrey and New Westminster, BC. The specific job site may vary depending on current project requirements.
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience installing underground piping systems for water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and other municipal utilities. This role involves working closely with excavator operators, foremen, and labourers to ensure piping systems are installed safely, accurately, and according to engineered plans and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Install underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage piping systems.
- Prepare pipe bedding and install/connect pipes, fittings, manholes, and catch basins.
- Set and check grades, elevations, slopes, and alignment using lasers and measuring equipment.
- Read and follow civil drawings, engineered plans, and project specifications.
- Assist with testing, backfilling, and proper installation of underground utilities.
- Follow trench, excavation, and site safety procedures while working with operators, foremen, and labourers.
Requirements
- Approximately 2 years of Pipe Layer or related civil construction experience preferred.
- Experience with water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage installation.
- Good understanding of civil drawings, grades, slopes, pipe materials, and fittings.
- Advanced English communication skills.
- Must have valid authorization to work in Canada and be able to provide the required employment documentation.
- Knowledge of trench and excavation safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to perform physically demanding construction work.
