Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and administrative skills, with a keen eye for detail. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys by conducting research, drafting legal documents, and managing case files. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Lexis-Nexis to support case preparation and strategy.
- Draft, proofread, and edit various legal documents including pleadings, contracts, and correspondence.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials by organizing exhibits and evidence.
- Interview clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for cases.
- Maintain and organize case files using iManage or similar document management systems.
- Manage schedules, deadlines, and appointments for attorneys.
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and regulations throughout the documentation process.
- Provide administrative support as needed to facilitate the smooth operation of the legal team.
- Making daily virtual court appearances in the Ontario Court of Justice
Experience
- Proven experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role within a law firm or legal department is preferred.
- Strong skills in legal drafting, proofreading, interviewing, organizational tasks, and administrative duties.
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with document management software like iManage is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
