Job Summary:
Reporing to the Service Manager, the Facility, Yard & Service Support Technician is responsible for
maintaining the Westridge Iron yard, shop, warehouse, and facilities while supporting the Parts, Service, Sales, and Rental departments. This hands-on role ensures the company operates safely, efficiently, and presents a clean, organized, and professional image at all times.
The successful candidate will assist with shipping and receiving, inventory handling, equipment organization, facility maintenance, shop repairs, preventative maintenance, field service, and customer support. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a desire to build a long-term career within Westridge Iron.
A day in the life – Roles and Responsibilities
Yard, Facility & Equipment Management:
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional yard, shop, warehouse, and facility.
- Perform & document Monthly Facility Inspection checklist
- Organize equipment, attachments, rental fleet, and inventory to maximize efficiency and presentation.
- Prepare equipment for customer inspections, demonstrations, deliveries, and photography.
- Perform required cleaning, pressure washing of new/used/rental/customer units, mobile
- equipment, and general company fleet units as needed.
- Perform general property maintenance including housekeeping, snow removal, landscaping, waste disposal, and yard upkeep.
- Identify maintenance issues and coordinate repairs before they impact operations.
- Maintain buildings, storage areas, fencing, signage, parking areas, and company property to a high standard.
- Ensure timely pickup of waste dumpsters, metal and cardboard recycling
- Maintain on site fuel (Diesel, Propane & Gasoline) in a safe and efficient manner
- Arrange and document needed life safety, equipment & tool inspections. (ex. slings & chains, crane inspections, tool calibrations, hydrant inspections, emergency lighting/fire extinguishers and sprinkler.
Parts, Shipping & Inventory Support:
- Support the Parts Department with day-to-day warehouse operations.
- Receive, inspect, unload, and store incoming shipments.
- Pick, package, stage, and ship customer and internal parts orders.
- Assist with inventory organizaƟon, stock replenishment, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy.
- Deliver parts and materials to Service Technicians and shop personnel as required.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely, including pre-trip inspection & logs
- Perform and document monthly pallet racking inspections, follow up on any needed action items
Shop & Service Support:
- Assist Service Technicians with equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, component
- rebuilds, fabrication, and equipment assembly.
- Prepare tools, materials, lifting equipment, and work areas for scheduled repairs.
- Maintain shop tooling, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Assist with work orders, inspections, service documentation, and photographs.
- Learn company service procedures while developing technical skills.
- Field Service Support
- Travel to customer sites as required to support Service Technicians.
- Assist with equipment installations, inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency breakdown repairs.
- Operate company vehicles safely and professionally.
- Represent Westridge Iron with professionalism and excepƟonal customer service at all customer locations.
Safety, Teamwork & Professionalism:
- Follow all company and customer OH&S policies and safe work procedures.
- Conduct work safely while using appropriate PPE and reporting hazards immediately.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment by supporting all departments as required.
- Demonstrate initiatve, accountability, and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Represent Westridge Iron professionally through aƫtude, appearance, workmanship, and customer interactions.
- Perform and document regular ladder inspections
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of company operations.
- Equipment Shipping and Receiving
- Assist and/or complete loading and unloading of tracked and wheeled equipment on/off oftrailers, using safe working practices
- Assist with overhead crane use for loading/unloading non-mobile equipment and other heavy loads using safe working practices
Requirements – what you bring to Westridge Iron:
- Mechanical aptitude with an interest in heavy equipment.
- Experience in industrial, construction, or mechanical environments considered an asset.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 75 lbs. using safe lifting methods
- Ability to stand and perform standing work tasks for long periods of times
- Ability to walk long distances across facility & yard during the course of daily work
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and work at heights to perform required duties using safe working procedures
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn company systems.

Certifications & Training:
- Forklift Certification (preferred)
- WHMIS
- Ariel Platform, Boom & Scissor Lift (preferred)
- Crane and Rigging (preferred)
- Heavy Trailer towing endorsement (preferred)
- Occupational First Aid (asset)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or higher, as required).
- Air Brake endorsement (preferred)
- Equipment-specific certifications (crushing equipment, hydraulics, etc.) considered an asset.
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
