The Opportunity (1 Replacement)
Reporting directly to the Supervisor Parks, this role is responsible for overseeing a variety of skilled park operations functions and coordinating team activities to ensure maximum efficiency, productivity, and safety. You will ensure the proper maintenance of Parks equipment and operations while working closely with Fleet Services to ensure the fleet is regularly cleaned and serviced. You will be responsible for supervising staff, coordinating park maintenance activities, and ensuring the efficient operation of the Parks department. As the Parks Maintenance Lead Hand, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Direct and supervise Parks staff in designated locations and train staff on Park’s equipment.
- Organize and schedule work crews for parks maintenance and sidewalk plowing operations.
- Inspect sidewalk plowing operations and ensure that staff and equipment are meeting service levels.
- Prepare work schedules, approve overtime, and maintain work time records.
- Ensure regular maintenance of Parks, including grass cutting, building servicing, and litter abatement.
- Ensure the Parks Fleet is well-maintained and operates safely and efficiently.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual with a post-secondary diploma in a Parks-related field or a closely related discipline. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of municipal parks maintenance experience and 3 years of supervisory experience. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in sidewalk snow plowing operations and possess a Playground certificate.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in managing teams, ensuring maintenance standards are met, and maintaining positive staff and public relations. We are seeking an individual with superior organizational skills, the ability to exercise discretion and sensitivity, and excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate for the Parks Maintenance Lead Hand position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely, and after hours (as required).
This position has an hourly rate of $38.57 plus a competitive benefits packages.
