Makita Canada Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate for an entry level Product Management Assistant position. Reporting directly to the Product Manager, the Product Management Assistant is responsible for assisting with product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle. This will include assisting with market research and data compilation, gathering and defining end user requirements as related to new product development, and working cross-functionally with R&D, sales, operations, marketing, purchasing and customer service to ensure company goals are achieved.

This position is based out of Makita Canada’s Head Office in Whitby, ON, Canada.

Assist with market research and competitive product testing
Compile and analyze market data
Support sales by assisting with a variety of tasks such as product training, sales presentations, product line reviews, trade shows, communications materials, etc.
Visit and work with end users to gather market information and conduct product testing
Help to launch new products and sales programs to sales team
Provide support across the entire Makita product range, including power tools (electric/cordless), outdoor power equipment, cleaning solutions, dust extraction and accessories
Manage online social media accounts (e.g. Instagram), including daily postings, product photos (creation, participation, etc.), contests and follower interaction
Upload and maintain website information on new and existing product lines
Utilize online translation service to translate materials from English to French
Prioritize between projects on various topics
Understand market trends and competitive landscapes
Act independently without constant supervision
Other duties as assigned by management

Experience and knowledge:
Basic knowledge of power tools or construction/building trades and sales or marketing
Post-secondary (university or college) degree (marketing, business or building trades preferred)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Photoshop
Excellent written and verbal communication and personal presentation skills
Must be able and willing to travel domestically and/or internationally if required
Valid G Class Driver’s License (Driver’s abstract to be provided)
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset, but is not required
