About the Opportunity
Our client is a well respected, publicly traded (TSX) Canadian oil and gas services provider that has a reputation for hiring exceptionally bright and technically astute people. They are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and analytical individual to join their accounting and reporting team in a temporary-contract role of Senior Financial Analyst.
Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst is a multi-functional position with a broad range of responsibilities within corporate accounting and internal controls.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures on client’s consolidation of companies, including inter-related company journal entries
Research and prepare variance analyses and succinct explanations on request
Create account analysis, account reconciliations, foreign currency transaction analysis, and financial results for divisional corporate monthly meetings
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements along with management discussion & analysis
Assisted investor relations department with reporting documents
Disclosure notes include: investment in joint venture, non-controlling interest, share-based payment expense, financial instruments
Prepare and perform control testing procedures as well as assisting in the development of internal control process
Reported on internal control deficiencies and weaknesses along with collaborating on mediation procedures to implement
The successful candidate will have the following:
CPA with 2 - 3+ years post designation experience, preferably with audit firm articling and oil and gas industry experience
Strong PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
Analytical and detailed oriented, hard-working with the ability to work independently and willing to take on challenges that take initiative and problem-solving skills to complete all necessary
Exceptional organizational skills, time management skills and a willingness to learn with a strong process/systems background and experience dealing with internal controls
Strong interpersonal skills and attention detail
Professional, friendly, approachable demeanor and ability to remain energetic and positive in a fast-paced environment

Ideally looking to compensate the right individual in the $50 to $55 an hour range.
This is an open-ended contract that has original duration planned in the 3-4 month mark with potential for 6+ or longer.
