Spring Point Colony School is located approximately 39 km northwest of Fort Macleod, AB or 32 km northeast of Pincher Creek. We are seeking a temporary full-time Educational Assistant to support a student with complex needs. Desired qualifications include the following:
- Diverse educational assistant training and/or experience supporting students in Divisions I, II, and III.
- Experience working with students with a wide range of learning, communication, physical, and developmental needs in inclusive and diverse classroom settings.
- An understanding of, and respect for, Hutterite culture, community values, language considerations, and educational needs.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, and community members in a flexible school environment.
- Ability to support and follow individualized programming developed in consultation with professionals such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and other members of the student support team.
- Training, experience, or willingness to learn in areas such as toileting support, specialized lifting and transfers, mobility equipment, feeding support, nonverbal communication strategies, Sign Language, and fine motor skill development is required.
- Ability to help integrate the student into daily classroom routines in a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive manner, while considering cultural context, English as an Additional Language needs, play-based learning, and peer interaction.
