Job Responsibilities: Our Residential Support workers assist individuals to live successfully in a community home setting while implementing the philosophy and values of NewLife. This includes:
- Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices
- Recognizing each individual’s contributions and promoting participation
- Promoting health and wellness while ensuring that individuals are safe
- Connecting individuals with family, friends, community, and resources
Key components in providing daily quality-of-life care and support include assisting individuals as they gain knowledge and develop functional skills that they can use to enhance their independence and participate in community. Your role as a NewLife Options Residential Support Worker is to provide high quality care and support as part of a team and to ensure that Individuals are provided opportunities and options which reflect cultural and ethnic sensitivity.
Qualifications:
- FSW, Human Services Worker, Youth Support Worker , Child and Youth Care, Disability Support Worker / Bachelor Degree in SW, PSYCH, Health and/or Behavioral Sciences
- 2 years of experience working with mental health, developmental, intellectual and physical disabilities
- Professional Communication and report writing skills
- Critical thinking and crisis intervention skills
- Experience/familiarity with Trauma Informed Care Approaches
Job Requirements:
- Must have current Certification of First Aid and CPR -Current
- Clear Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 3 months)
- A Valid Driver's License with clean Abstract & Vehicle with proof of insurance
- Experience with aggressive behavior
- Must live in and around the region of Fredericton
**Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Training an asset**
Must be available to work all assigned shifts: days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
