Role Summary
The Production Manager / Estimator serves as the primary link between sales and field production — visiting client sites to scope and price work, closing sales, ensuring crews execute jobs correctly and on schedule, and coordinating shared equipment (trucks) with other business units.
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Estimating
- Visit residential and commercial properties to assess tree work (removal, pruning, stump grinding, storm damage, plant health care, and more)
- Prepare accurate, itemized estimates using company software/CRM
- Present proposals to clients, answer technical questions, and close sales
- Follow up on outstanding estimates and convert leads within target timelines
- Track and report personal close rate and sales pipeline
Production & Field Oversight
- Advise the scheduler on job sequencing, crew/equipment needs, and realistic completion timelines
- Visit active job sites to verify work matches the estimate/scope, quality standards are met, and safety protocols are followed
- Resolve on-site issues (scope changes, access problems, client concerns) in real time
- Communicate change orders and update pricing/paperwork accordingly
Customer Relations
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients from estimate through job completion
- Handle post-job follow-up, resolve complaints, and support repeat/referral business
Coordination & Administration
- Coordinate with ISA certified senior arborist regarding report creation and manage submission with the City of Toronto or relevant municipality
- Coordinate truck/equipment usage and scheduling with managers from other business units sharing the fleet
- Maintain accurate records in CRM/scheduling software (job notes, photos, client communication)
- Communicate with crew leads and the ops team on job status and priorities
Requirements
- Working knowledge of tree service operations: pruning standards, removal techniques, equipment capabilities/limitations, hazard assessment, basic arboriculture
- Comfortable using estimating/CRM software, email, scheduling tools, and mobile apps in the field
- Strong sales/closing ability and customer communication skills
- Valid driver's license, ability to travel to multiple sites daily
- ISA Certified Arborist or equivalent field experience preferred (not always required)
- Prior experience as a crew lead, foreman, or estimator in tree care/landscaping strongly preferred

Physical / Work Conditions
Regular outdoor site visits in varying weather; some physical mobility on uneven terrain required (not full climbing/production work).
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
