FCL invites applications for the position of Business Development Manager in our home office located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Director, Growth and Business Development, responsibilities for this position include the following:

Proactively identify and critically evaluate new business opportunities that support the growth of the CRS, and make recommendations on potential investment.
Lead research studies on growth-related activities and issues, and develop strategic and competitive analysis (technical, financial, economic) to inform decisions on long-term growth strategies.
Research emerging markets, and recommend market-entry strategies to stakeholders.
Work collaboratively with operational and functional leaders to develop comprehensive financial/valuation models.
Manage or advise on all aspects of the business development process, from conceptual planning, initial screening, valuation analysis, strategic assessments, business case development, project planning, negotiation, due diligence and validation, deal structure, preparation and review of contractual documents (including confidentiality agreements, expressions of interest, letters of intent, term sheets, asset purchase agreements), preparation and presentation of Requests for Expenditure, project close to integration planning.
Stay informed and up-to-date on industry knowledge, trends, and the competitive landscape. Partner with other business units to consolidate market and industry research that will inform strategic growth discussions and initiatives.
Build both internal and external relationships to bring knowledge of market trends and opportunities to bear on strategic discussions.
Prepare and present strategic recommendations (including business cases, proposals, valuation analyses and requests for expenditures) to business leaders and senior management.
Work with the Project and Integration Managers to transition growth related projects to the construction and integration phases.
Direct and manage the work of the Business Development Analysts.

The successful candidate will have a University Degree majoring in Commerce, Engineering, Agriculture, or related field(s) and a minimum of 8+ years of work experience in a multifaceted complex organization, with deep experience in business development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and analysis, investment banking or a transactional environment. Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and business strategy. Knowledge of the Consumer, Food, Agriculture or Energy industries is an asset. Experience advising business leaders and senior management teams and working with them to advance growth initiatives. Ability to manage competing priorities and to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong research skills and ability to become a subject matter expert.

A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
