We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and experienced Residential Coordinator to lead one of our well-established staffed living homes.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing leadership with hands-on support. Schedule
This is a full-time leadership position, typically working Monday through Friday but may have to jump in the occasional weekend. Scheduled hours will vary between 7:00 am–3:00 pm, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, 9:00 am–5:00 pm and 10:00 am-6:00 pm to provide leadership and supervision across different shifts.
The Residential Coordinator participates in an after-hours on-call rotation by carrying the residential phone for emergency support outside of regular working hours.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, mentorship, and support to residential staff.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
- Recruit, onboard, orient, and train new employees.
- Complete performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and address performance concerns.
- Support staff through challenging situations while promoting confidence and professional growth.
- Assist with conflict resolution and workplace problem-solving.
Residential Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the residence.
- Develop and maintain staffing schedules while ensuring adequate coverage.
- Coordinate appointments, transportation, household routines, recreation, and community inclusion.
- Manage household purchasing, budgeting, petty cash, and maintenance needs.
- Step in to provide direct support when operationally required.
Person-Centered Supports
- Ensure high-quality, individualized supports that promote dignity, independence, choice, and inclusion.
- Oversee implementation of Individualized Personal Plans (IPPs), behaviour support strategies, and medical support plans.
- Support individuals with varying abilities, complex behaviours, mental health challenges, dementia, and complex medical needs as required.
- Encourage meaningful community participation and quality of life.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Licensing requirements, CLBC standards, agency policies, and best practices.
- Prepare for licensing inspections and audits.
- Complete and review incident reports, investigations, and required follow-up.
- Maintain accurate documentation, participation notes, medication records, financial records, and client files.
- Ensure confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical practice are maintained.
Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain positive working relationships with families, CLBC, licensing officers, physicians, behaviour consultants, community professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in management meetings, planning initiatives, and organizational projects.
- Promote open communication and teamwork across departments.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe living and working environment.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and risk management practices are followed.
- Participate in Occupational Health & Safety initiatives.
- Respond to emergencies and participate in the after-hours on-call rotation.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Diploma in Human Service Worker (HSW), Residential Support Worker (RSW), Community Support Worker (CSW), Social Services, or related post-secondary education.
- Minimum two years of supervisory or leadership experience in residential or community living services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Licensing requirements, and CLBC-funded residential services.
- Experience working in a unionized environment, including scheduling, collective agreement interpretation, and established protocols.
- Experience with person-centered planning and positive behaviour support.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and electronic documentation.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and make sound decisions independently.
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Emergency First Aid (Community Care) with CPR.
- WHMIS.
- Food Safe.
- Class 4 Driver's Licence (or willingness to obtain).
- Clear driver's abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- TB screening clearance.
