About A-Scent Innovations
A-Scent Innovations is a Vancouver-based deep technology company developing smart electrochemical sensor solutions for the food and agriculture industries. Our technology enables real-time monitoring of food freshness, helping reduce food waste, improve food safety, and optimize supply chain operations.
Founded from research conducted at Simon Fraser University, A-Scent collaborates with academic and industry partners to develop innovative sensing technologies. Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Associate to support customer discovery, market research, and business development activities. This role will work closely with the Founder team to identify market opportunities, engage prospective customers and partners, and contribute to the company's commercial growth.
This position is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in business development, innovation, food technology, or agriculture technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct customer discovery interviews with food industry stakeholders, distributors, retailers, and technology partners.
- Perform market research to identify new business opportunities within the food technology and agriculture sectors.
- Analyze customer feedback, market trends, and competitive activities to support business strategy.
- Prepare presentations and reports summarizing market insights and recommendations.
- Support business development activities, including outreach to prospective customers and partners.
- Assist with marketing activities, including website updates, content development, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on strategic business initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Communications, or a related field.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Interest in food technology, agriculture, sustainability, or innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with market research, customer discovery, or business development.
- Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., HubSpot or Salesforce).
- Experience with digital marketing, or content creation.
- Previous experience in a startup or technology company is an asset.
