Position Title: Youth Summer Facilities Assistant (Temporary)
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Employment status: Fixed-term contract - July - August 2026
Start date: June 29, 2026
Hours: Full-time hours Monday to Friday
Wage: $15/hour
Closing: June 22, 2026 (or until position is filled)
Lycée internationale de Calgary is seeking a motivated and dependable student to join our facilities and operations team over the summer. This is a hands-on role supporting the preparation of classrooms and school grounds for the upcoming academic year. Ideal for a high school or post-secondary student interested in gaining work experience in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare classrooms, desks, tables, and lockers
- Remove adhesive residue and wipe down surfaces
- Power wash garbage cans and recycling bins
- Steam clean and vacuum carpets
- Paint benches, cubbies, door frames, and classrooms
- Move furniture and school equipment as required
- Perform basic landscaping (e.g., weeding, fertilizing, grass trimming)
- Apply floor signage and set up rooms in accordance with school safety protocols
- Clean windows, walls, and sanitize boot racks
- Dust library shelves and other surfaces
- Organize, sort, and distribute summer orders and school supplies
- Assist with inventory of school materials
- Package and deliver teacher and student welcome kits
- Use basic hand and power tools (under supervision and with training)
- Ensure proper disposal of packing materials
Qualifications:
- Responsible, punctual, and able to work independently
- Comfortable with light physical labor, lifting up to 50 lb, and being on your feet
- Able to follow directions and safety guidelines
- Previous experience with cleaning, painting, or organizing is an asset but not required
- Must be functionally English speaking
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor tasks, sometimes in warm weather
- Use of cleaning materials, paint, and tools (training provided)
- Must wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate work attire
