opportunity available to be based out of Stouffville, Ontario for the position of:


(IBEW Local Union 353 Position)


Working with our Substation and Projects Construction Division, this role will take part in the construction

of high voltage substations and associated electrical systems. The successful candidate will be a

Journeyperson Powerline Technician or Journeyperson Electrician who through experience and training

and is in receipt of an IHSA approved certificate, or equivalent, is a specialist in all facets of the

construction and maintenance of substations.


  • Install, inspect, maintain, repair, and approve for service all substation equipment
  • Installation of ground grids, underground MV cable systems, substation equipment, steel
structures, overhead bus systems, pole installations, overhead lines, etc.

  • Report hazardous conditions to the System Operators
  • Maintain, update and complete reports, work orders, work procedures, engineering drawings,
specifications, records and documentation related to the position

  • Maintain personal and group safety at all times
  • Participate in the construction, erection, assembly and maintenance of all areas of substation

  • Willingness to travel and work out of town to meet project requirements
Experience & Education

  • Valid Ontario DZ driver’s license
  • Interprovincial Journeyman Power Lineman or Electrician Red Seal Certificate is required
  • Experience working in high voltage utility substations (up to 230kV)
  • Experience with substations, overhead and underground distribution systems operations and

  • CET Designation is an asset

  • Knowledge of OHSA, the EUSA Rule Book, and the Utility Work Protection Code
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
  • Exceptional problem solving skills and a collaborative approach in determining course of

  • Strong communication, customer service and leadership skills are essential
  • Basic computer skills are required
