Working Site Superintendent – Commercial Tenant Improvements

Ovation Projects is looking for an experienced Working Site Superintendent to oversee commercial tenant-improvement projects throughout Metro Vancouver.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage the site, coordinate trades and schedules, and work hands-on alongside the crew when required.
We specialize in office, retail, restaurant, industrial and commercial renovation projects. The ideal candidate has a strong general construction background, with steel stud framing experience considered a major asset.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage daily site operations from project startup through completion
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, deliveries and inspections
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules and project requirements
- Maintain short-term schedules and ensure trades are properly sequenced
- Direct site labour and assign daily tasks
- Perform hands-on construction work when required to keep projects moving
- Complete or assist with steel stud framing, backing, blocking, hoarding, doors, hardware, deficiencies and general carpentry
- Assist with demolition, layout and miscellaneous site work as needed
- Conduct site orientations, toolbox meetings and regular safety inspections
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with drawings, codes and quality standards
- Identify site issues early and work with the Project Manager to develop practical solutions
- Track deficiencies and coordinate timely completion
- Maintain a clean, organized and professional job site
- Provide regular site updates, photos and progress reports
- Coordinate access with tenants, landlords, consultants and building management
- Prepare the site for consultant, landlord and municipal inspections
- Represent Ovation professionally with clients, trades and project stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of construction experience
- Previous experience supervising commercial tenant-improvement or renovation projects
- Strong hands-on construction ability
- Steel stud framing experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with layout, backing, blocking, doors, hardware and general carpentry is an asset
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and trade coordination
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings
- Ability to lay out walls and complete work accurately from construction drawings
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC requirements and general site-safety practices
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Clear and professional communication
- Ability to manage multiple trades and changing site conditions
- Willingness to step in and perform physical site work when needed
- Comfortable using email, smartphones, construction apps and digital drawings
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- First Aid certification is an asset

Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on construction position. Candidates must be able to:
- Work on their feet for extended periods
- Lift and carry construction materials and tools
- Use ladders and standard construction equipment
- Perform framing, carpentry and general construction tasks
- Work in active commercial construction environments
Compensation
- $40–$50 per hour, depending on experience
- Full-time hours
