Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Labour Relations, the Senior Advisor, Human Resources is a member of the Human Resources team and is responsible for ensuring consistent, accountable, and responsive Human Resources services to Bethany through the provision of effective advice and coaching to key stakeholders. Working with the Human Resources Leadership team, the Senior Advisor supports the strategic and operational plans, HR policies and relevant document that are consistent with Bethany’s strategic goals, vision and mission.

Essential duties, responsibilities, and performance measures

Accountable for the administration and ongoing evaluation of assigned human resources programs and policies.

Performance Measures include:
Consults with stakeholders to ensure programs and policies meet the business strategy and needs of the organization.
Ensures policies and procedures are current and comprehensive.
Keeps abreast of external trends in order to assess current programs and seek opportunities for improvement.
Co-ordinates and interfaces with other key departments and consultants for enhancing human resources programs and policies.
Oversees the effective administration of key human resources programs and policies.
Supports the Disability Management Program.
Supports Recruitment Initiatives under the direction of the Acting Director, Human Resources.

Accountable for supporting and facilitating a consistent approach to and compliance with collective agreements, labour legislation and Human Resource policies throughout the Society.

Performance Measures include:
Supports Human Resources Leadership team and Managers with conducting investigations and grievances.
Supports Human Resources Leadership team in administering various HR programs and processes.
Ensures all policies, procedures, employment legislation and collective agreements are adhered to.
Ensures a consistent approach to problem resolution, discipline, grievance and arbitration processes throughout Bethany.
Ensures a consistent approach to investigation of employee misconduct i.e. bullying and harassment, conflict of interest, resident abuse etc.
Solid understanding of how Human Resources processes and programs impact Bethany’s business.

Accountable for day to day operational Employee Relations and Labour Relations support of Managers with their Human Resources needs.

Performance Measures include:
Coaches and supports Managers with day to day ER and LR issues to help Managers develop strong ER and LR skills and competencies, including attendance management, performance coaching, conducting Investigations and general employee issues.
Developing effective and efficient tools, processes and reporting to support Managers.
Co-ordinates and interfaces with other key departments and stakeholders in the development and delivery of ER and LR training programs.

Attends professional development courses and sessions on a regular basis.
Identifies and initiates relevant courses for self-development.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of human resource and labour relations legislation, practice, trends, and technologies.
Take initiative to share learning experiences and newly acquired knowledge with peers, Managers and co-workers.Qualifications

Education & Experience
A degree in a relevant field of study and a minimum of 7 years’ experience in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations
Relevant experience conducting Investigations and coaching support
Professional registration
Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation preferred
