What is the opportunity?
As Senior Manager, Corporate Communications you will enhance and protect the reputation of RBC Capital Markets (CM) with key internal and external stakeholders through innovative and differentiated communications strategies and issues management. You will successfully execute RBC Capital Markets' internal and external communications strategies within Canada and globally in support of business and employee engagement objectives. In this role, you will provide thoughtful and communications counsel to RBC Capital Markets senior leaders.
What will you do?
Manage the development and execution of communications strategies in support of RBC Capital Markets' Chief Operating Office (COO) Group, Corporate Banking & Global Credit and Human Resources.
Support internal & external communications needs for Global Investment Banking in Canada
Manage an Advisor level employee and provide them with guidance and best practices
Collaborate closely with global colleagues in the roll out of firm-wide and RBC enterprise-wide internal communications initiatives
Lead projects for internal Capital Markets communications and work with regional counterparts on development and execution
Take a leadership role within Communications to support key reward and recognition programs within Capital Markets
Proactively identify opportunities and regularly develop innovative and impactful design and content for CMWeb, including managing feature stories and content requiring interviews with senior executives and business leaders, and identify strategic opportunities to contribute CM content to RBCnet
Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders in Canada on communications to internal and external stakeholders, including addressing reputational issues as required
What do you need to succeed?
8+ years of corporate communications experience, preferably at a financial services/professional services firm and/or PR agency
Ability to build relationships with and act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior business leaders on both internal and external communications matters
Understanding of global capital markets and financial services industry
Extensive employee communications experience; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across multiple platforms
Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal; strong organizational skills and project management capabilities
Ability to strategically link major programs with enterprise initiatives and with overall RBC business objectives
Strong financial services media relations experience, and understanding of social media channels
Results-focused approach with strong work and personal ethics
Keen attention to detail
Critical thinking and strategic planning skills
