Maintenance Assistant (Handyman)

Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour (based on experience)

Position Overview
Homewood Suites by Hilton London is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Assistant (Handyman) to join our team. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this hands-on role is responsible for assisting with the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, grounds, and building systems to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and team members.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Weekend availability is required
- Evenings and holidays as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel.
- Complete maintenance work orders assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Repair drywall, paint, replace fixtures, and perform basic carpentry.
- Assist with minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance.
- Maintain guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel grounds.
- Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests.
- Assist with emergency repairs as required.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and the maintenance workshop in an organized and safe condition.
- Report maintenance issues, supply needs, and project updates to the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, handyman, or building maintenance experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
