Reporting to the Manager of Child & Adolescent Addiction & Mental Health & Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) Mental Health Collaborative, the RN is responsible for the coordination of Psychiatric care for patients in the Adult Gender clinic to ensure that timely, comprehensive and coordinated care is provided to the population served. The Gender Clinic provides consultation, diagnostic clarity, treatment/ medication recommendations and timely access to care for adults experiencing gender dysphoria and mental health concerns related to gender identity. The focus of the role is consultation, program support, case management, support for surgical referrals and follow up care and referral to appropriate services. The Registered Nurse acts as the primary contact for clients regarding medical concerns such as queries about medication, and is responsible for participating in specialized nursing assessments, intervention, case management, groups and navigation of referrals and resources. The position requires strong clinical skills with expertise in working with clients with complex mental health disorders and experience and understanding of gender related issues, specifically gender dysphoria. The position requires extensive knowledge of Community and Acute Care Addiction and Mental Health Mental Health resources, gender related services and supports as well as strong referral and case management skills.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 - $55.79 per hour. Upon being entered into the register as a Registered Nurse, the rate of pay will be adjusted in accordance with the UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
2+ Years experience working within the transgender population and community. Related training and experience in the standards of care for the health of Transsexual, Transgender and Gender Non-conforming people. 3-5 years experience working with complex populations, specifically mental health and addictions. Demonstrates an ability to manage workload and to complete assessments, documentation and consultations in a timely, effective manner within a fast-paced environment. Experience assessing and responding to risk. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, formulation and intervention required. WPATH training or awareness. Awareness of related resources and community services. Knowledge of resources and services available in Calgary and surrounding areas to support transgendered clients and (where appropriate) their families. Successful completion of the Brain Story certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with developing and delivering education sessions for other professionals, as well as consultation and capacity building tasks as necessary. Experience developing and leading group therapy treatment programs. Connect Care Training preferred.
