Licensed Machinist / Toolmaker
Location: St. Thomas, ON
Pay Rate: $36.00 - $42.00/hour (based on experience)
Shift: Afternoons: Monday to Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
3 Weeks Vacation to Start
Our client, a leading precision machining and fabrication company, is currently seeking an experienced Licensed Machinist / Toolmaker to join their growing team in St. Thomas, Ontario.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled trades professional who enjoys working on complex, custom machining projects from start to finish. The successful candidate will be involved in programming, setup, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of high-precision machining processes.
- Set up, program, and operate CNC machining equipment
- Prepare and load raw materials and tooling for production
- Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam and CAD data
- Manufacture, modify, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Perform troubleshooting and resolve machining and tooling issues
- Conduct preventative maintenance and report equipment concerns
- Operate various shop equipment including grinders, welding equipment, and overhead cranes
- Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments
- Collaborate with engineering, CAD, and tooling teams to support production requirements
- Licensed Machinist and/or Tool & Die Maker certification
- 2+ years of experience in a custom machining environment
- Experience with CNC setup, operation, and programming
- Strong blueprint and technical drawing interpretation skills
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC machining
- Working knowledge of Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software
- Experience with Okuma, Mazak, Siemens, or Heidenhain controls considered an asset
- Strong understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Must be eligible to obtain Controlled Goods clearance
