Overview
We are seeking a friendly and attentive Server to join our dynamic restaurant team at Indian Spice - Mississauga. The ideal candidate will excel in providing exceptional guest service, ensuring a memorable dining experience for all patrons. This role requires a strong understanding of food and beverage service, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in food service or the food industry particularly at a South Indian restautant is preferred, along with familiarity with POS systems (Toast). The Server will be responsible for taking orders, serving food and drinks, handling payments, and maintaining sanitation standards to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
Duties
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive customer service throughout their dining experience
- Take accurate orders using POS systems (Toast), ensuring proper entry and order accuracy
- Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining presentation standards
- Upsell menu items to enhance guest experience and increase sales opportunities
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cashiering and cash handling responsibilities
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld during food handling and serving
- Assist in food preparation or kitchen duties as needed to support team operations
- Maintain cleanliness of tables, service stations, and dining areas in compliance with sanitation guidelines
- Manage time effectively to serve multiple tables efficiently during busy periods
- Address guest inquiries or concerns promptly to ensure satisfaction
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environment preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Familiarity with POS systems (Toast) is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently with excellent time management skills
- Basic math skills for billing, cash handling, and order calculations
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation procedures, and proper food handling techniques
- Experience with food industry standards, including serving, upselling, and guest services
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment within a hospitality setting
- Flexibility to work during peak hours including weekends and holidays as needed
