Position Summary
Reporting to the Chef and Sous Chef, the Kitchen Supervisor / Lead Line Cook is responsible for leading the kitchen team during service while consistently preparing high-quality food that meets OEB's standards. This role ensures smooth daily kitchen operations, supports training and development, maintains food quality and safety, and helps create a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team during daily operations and service.
- Prepare and execute menu items according to OEB recipes and presentation standards.
- Train, coach, and mentor new and existing kitchen team members.
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and speed of service at all times.
- Complete daily line checks and ensure stations are fully stocked and organized.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and proper product rotation.
- Monitor food costs by following recipes, portion standards, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules.
- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and workplace cleanliness.
- Foster strong communication between the Front of House and Back of House teams.
- Support scheduling, shift organization, and kitchen operations as directed by the Chef.
- Act as the kitchen leader in the absence of the Chef or Sous Chef.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume restaurant.
- Previous experience as a Lead Line Cook, Kitchen Supervisor, or similar leadership role preferred.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Alberta food safety regulations and best practices.
- Red Seal Certification is an asset but not required.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Must be available for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Store hours are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily, so no evening or late-night shifts.
