Hello, I'm Simon Mathé, Recruitment Consultant at FED ManuTech, specializing in engineering, manufacturing, and industrial recruitment. I am currently recruiting for a fast-growing Quebec-based manufacturer specializing in automation, conveyor systems, and intelligent warehouse solutions. As part of the development of new material handling equipment, the company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who wants to contribute to the design and development of complex mechanical systems, from concept through industrialization. If you enjoy designing conveyor systems, lifting mechanisms, and automated equipment for demanding industrial environments, this opportunity could be a great fit.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in the design and development of conveyor systems, lifting equipment, and mechanical solutions integrated into automated material handling systems.
Working closely with the automation, electrical engineering, and manufacturing teams, you will contribute throughout the entire product development cycle, from concept and detailed design to production and validation. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys remaining hands-on and directly involved in product design and engineering development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop conveyor systems, lifting equipment, and mechanical solutions for automated material handling applications.
- Transform customer requirements into reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective mechanical designs.
- Perform engineering calculations, feasibility studies, and technical validations throughout the product development process.
- Design complex mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks and produce detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and technical files.
- Lead the mechanical engineering activities of assigned projects while ensuring technical objectives, schedules, and budgets are achieved.
- Collaborate closely with automation, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Participate in prototype testing, product validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, manufacturability, and overall product cost.
- Serve as a technical resource for internal teams throughout the project lifecycle.
You have solid experience designing mechanical systems for automated material handling applications and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges while remaining closely involved in product development.
You also have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience designing conveyor systems, lifting equipment, or automated material handling machinery.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials, welded structures, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and finite element analysis (FEA).
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems commonly used in material handling equipment, including conveyors, lifting mechanisms, drive systems, bearings, power transmission components, and welded structures.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Professional proficiency in both French and English.
Assets:
- Experience in intralogistics, warehouse automation, or material handling industries.
- Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles and industrial design standards.
- Experience designing sheet metal structures.
What the Company Offers:
- Competitive base salary of approximately $120,000, depending on experience.
- Permanent full-time position.
- Flexible working hours.
- Comprehensive group benefits, including medical, dental, life insurance, disability coverage, and telemedicine.
- Annual performance bonus program.
- Opportunity to contribute to the development of advanced conveyor and automated material handling solutions within a rapidly growing manufacturing company.
- An engineering environment where you will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production.
- Excellent opportunities for professional growth and long-term career development.
