Job Title: Plant Finance Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
The Plant Finance Manager is the key finance partner to the Plant Leadership Team, providing analysis, guidance, and recommendations that support operational performance, financial planning, cost management, and decision‑making. The role leads core FP&A activities for the plant - including budgeting, forecasting, manufacturing cost analysis, performance indicators, and continuous improvement opportunities. In collaboration with Operations and Corporate Finance, the Plant Finance Manager converts financial and operational data into actionable insights while supporting essential plant finance activities such as month‑end close, financial reporting, inventory management, capital projects, internal controls, and select accounting functions.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary finance business partner to Plant Leadership, providing financial analysis, guidance, and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes and monitor plant performance against financial plans.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, identifying trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate key findings to leadership.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, manufacturing overhead, production variances, and cost of goods sold, to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with Operations to improve cost performance, productivity, manufacturing efficiency, working capital management, and overall plant profitability.
- Develop and monitor financial and operational performance indicators and provide analysis to support accountability and continuous improvement.
- Analyze capital expenditures and investment projects and provide financial analysis and recommendations to Plant Leadership.
- Support month-end close activities, financial reporting, inventory management and valuation, internal controls, and internal and external audits in partnership with Corporate Finance.
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Human Resources, Corporate Finance, and other functions on cross-functional initiatives designed to improve plant performance.
- Provide guidance and support to finance teammembers under the role's supervision, when applicable
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and variance analysis.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and key manufacturing performance indicators.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and operational data into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA designation preferred.
- Supervisory or employee coaching experience preferred; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position is based on-site at a manufacturing facility.
- The position is primarily performed in an office environment and requires regular use of standard office equipment such as a computer, telephone, and printer.
- The role requires extended periods of sitting, with occasional periods of walking, standing, or light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
- The ability to walk through active production areas may be required.
- The work may involve exposure to temperature variations, elevated noise levels, moving equipment, dust, and other conditions associated with a manufacturing environment.
EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: Up to three (3) employee, depending on the plant's organizational structure.
