Available Shifts:
- Afternoon Shift, 3 p.m. to 11. p.m. (+$0.75 per hour shift premium)
- Midnight Shift, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. (+$1 per hour shift premium)
Overview:The Material Handler puts pallets away, stages materials for production, picks and stages customer orders, receives, ships and helps with other warehouse activities as directed by the Warehouse Unit Leader/Supervisor/Manager.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Follow FIFO, allocate appropriate inventory locations and bulk locations for inbound commodities, raw materials, finish goods and general merchandise in a timely and efficient manner.
· Competently follow the put away procedures (usage of Flag tag for every pallet to record the location in the system).
· Shrink wrap skids safely and make sure it does not fall in the delivery process.
· Apply plastic straps to DRP pallets as required.
· Tag all skids after completing the picking.
· Stage all picked orders onto the shipping dock accordingly.
· Remove all damaged freight and place them in to the proper aisle.
· Take finished stock from production and disperse to appropriate locations (pick location, overstock, transfer or orders for immediate shipping).
· Follow HACCP Procedures. Complete all forms and records as set out by HACCP-Trophy Foods Inc.
· Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
· Conserve a safe and efficient vehicle by charging battery, checking water level and performing regular forklift checks, reporting any deficiencies to the respective shift supervisor and plug the machine at the end of the shift.
· Drive a forklift in safe manner at all times.
· Responsible for the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) used.
· Participate on daily rack accuracy inventory audit checks and in the annual physical inventory count.
· Maintain a neat, clean and orderly workplace according to company’s GMP’s, sanitation procedures and frequency.
· Comply with the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures including the lockout/tag out, wearing of PPE, etc.
· Approach drivers in a professional manner.
· Verify and account for all inbound & outbound products.
· Unload/load skids off/onto trucks/trailers and ensure all GMP policies & procedures are adhered to.
· Attend to incoming arrivals of deliveries in a prompt manner.
· Validate accurate reception of inbound product and sign the receiving documents.
· Fill out the QA receiving report for all the loads with no exception.
· Effectively document reception transactions and ensure all information is recorded in correct categories (use the stamp for all receiving paperwork).
· Process all paperwork before the shift ends and take it to the Warehouse Clerk on a timely manner.
· Coordinate all the receiving/shipping functions and door status with the Warehouse Clerks.
· Make sure Lumpers are accurately performing and monitoring the work and quality of their assignment.
· Other duties, responsibilities and tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Management.
Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:
· High school or post-secondary diploma or;
· Two to three years related experience or;
· Equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Basic knowledge of computers is an asset.
· Forklift certification required.

Physical Effort:
· Frequent periods are spent sitting or standing in the same location with some opportunity to move about.
· Regularly lift and transport a maximum of 25kg/50lbs objects.
· Frequent requirement to lift heavy objects over the shoulder level, see different colours, use hands and fingers to touch, handle, or feel and to push and pull product in place on a forklift.
Work Environment:
· Almost constant exposure to factors such as extreme temperatures of 4-42⁰C, humidity, scents, airborne particles, noise level over 85dB and moisture which will cause frequent periods of discomfort.
· There is regular exposure to factors which carry an extreme risk of accident or illness which cannot be eliminated from the job.
Sensory Attention:
· Frequent need to give concentrated attention, with one or two senses (talk, listen, look) used in co-ordination to ensure the product is prepared according to schedule.
· Ability to apply common sense to problems involving mathematical skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, and dividing and written or oral instructions.
· Ability to carry out simple step-by-step instructions.
Mental Stress:
· Work and environment are not repetitious/unchanging.
· There is noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
