JOB SUMMARY
Hestia is looking for an experienced Senior Design Coordinator who will play a key technical leadership role in development and coordination of complex building projects from schematic design through construction administration. This individual is dedicated, hardworking team player, who will report to our Senior Project Advisor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong set of communication skills, and bring advanced technical expertise, with a strong knowledge of building codes. You will be working with our Project and Development teams to discuss plans, designs, schedules and proposals that will meet Hestia’s high quality of standard.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the development of architectural and consultant design standards and specifications
- Participate in the review for compliance with all applicable building codes and other municipal requirements
- Validate that designs team deliverables align with Hestia’s standards and specifications
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors and any other invested third-party clients
- Ensuring project development team adheres to agreed timelines and deliverables
- Provide input to design issues, using problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews
- Mentor junior technologist and support team development
- Provide guidance and experience to assist with leveraging project development
- Attend meetings and provide guidance as needed to the development team
- Conduct project site visits to gather data for implementation and design, when required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Architectural Technology Diploma/Certification or a relevant architecture degree required
- A minimum of 8 years experience in an architectural technologist position, working on large scale commercial, institutional or multi-unit residential projects
- Previous experience in a Job Captain or Project Lead role is preferred
- Strong detailing skills and understanding of building envelope systems
- Extensive expertise in Canadian building codes, accessibility standards and construction practices, with a familiarity of municipal planning approvals
- Strong communication and leadership skills, proactive and a collaborative mindset while working with a variety of teams
- Ability to meet deadlines, while remaining organized
- Experience with Bluebeam, Share Point, and ProCore is an asset
- Experience with contract administration and site review is an asset
