Purpose:
As a Delivery Driver for Mainland Fresh, you’re the face of our company, delivering premium dairy, organic, and local food with care and reliability. Driving 3- and 5-ton trucks, you ensure every order arrives safely, on time, and in perfect condition. Beyond delivery, you build trusted relationships with customers, resolve issues on the spot, and escalate concerns when needed to protect service quality. With exceptional communication and a focus on accuracy, you help us deliver on our promise of outstanding service and dependable, community-focused distribution.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely operate 3- and 5-ton trucks on urban, inter-urban, and rural routes while protecting product quality and maintaining delivery schedules.
- Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, monitor and log reefer temperatures, report any mechanical issues or damages promptly, and keep the truck clean and organized.
- Pick up products from suppliers, build and organize customer orders, verify accuracy, and prepare products for safe and efficient transport.
- Safely offload, sort, and deliver products using proper equipment (hand carts, ramps, stairs), ensuring all items are handled with care and placed accurately and securely at customer locations.
- Ensure that every order is delivered in full and on time. Promptly report any missing or incorrect items from supplier orders, secure payments when required, and manage all documentation with precision and care.
- Greet customers professionally, confirm satisfaction with each order, resolve concerns directly when possible, and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Use our delivery software to capture and upload records POD, credit notes, and signatures.
- Uphold all safety, health, and compliance protocols, including food handling and environmental regulations.
- Embrace a collaborative spirit and support the team wherever needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification, skills, and education requirements:
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract.
- Proven experience operating 3- and 5-ton trucks.
- Physically fit with the ability to handle repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs) and loading tasks.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with polished written and verbal English.
- A service-first mindset: reliable, punctual, adaptable, and detail-focused.
- Thrive under pressure, especially in varied weather or cold-temperature environments.
- Highly reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Physical demands & working conditions:
- Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; sustained standing, walking, bending, and loading.
- Extended periods seated while driving; exposure to cold and refrigerated environments.
- Must be comfortable sitting for long durations while operating delivery vehicles.
- Must be prepared to work in winter conditions, including snow and ice, and perform physical tasks such as clearing snow from vehicles and work areas as required.
