Financial Operations - Student Services supports departments across Student Services through financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. The team also provides financial administration, including purchase orders, expense processing, procurement support, and corporate credit card management. By promoting sound financial stewardship, effective internal controls, and data-informed decision-making, FP&A helps departments allocate resources responsibly and advance SFU’s strategic priorities. About the Role
The Manager, Finance, is responsible for providing financial analysis and support to all departments within Student Services (Vice Provost, Students and International portfolio). The position works closely with each services department to provide professional guidance and consultation in all financial and budget activities, prepares and monitors the annual budget and long-term financial plan, designs and maintains a variety of financial reports; and manages the daily finance operations involving accounts payable, cashier, and accounts receivable, treasury and procurement processing to ensure financial transactions are recognized in SFU's financial statements in a timely and accurate manner; prepares and reviews monthly financial statements for all departments analyzing all major variances versus budget; reviews financial policies and procedures and designs and develops related training materials to ensure effective and appropriate internal controls for processing financial transactions are in place; provides guidance and mentorship regarding the financial implications of new ventures, explores alternative funding methods and costing models under the oversight of the Director, Finance. The Manager, Finance assists the Director, Finance in the budget consolidation process, external reporting, and financial resource planning and supervises support staff.
