Position Summary
The Environmental Services and Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance operations within the home. This dual role ensures full compliance with health and safety regulations, supports infection prevention and control practices, and manages all aspects of facility maintenance, including preventative maintenance and repairs. The manager leads teams committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

The Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the maintenance department, including supervision of maintenance staff.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and building codes.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized services.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues.
- Support capital improvement projects and renovations.
- Lead and manage the environmental services team, including housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance staff.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and infection control standards.
- Develop and implement cleaning and maintenance schedules to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
- Manage departmental budgets and inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate with other departments to support resident care and facility operations.
- Train and mentor staff, conduct performance evaluations, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Respond to and resolve environmental service-related concerns from residents, families, and staff.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in environmental services, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance or facilities management, ideally within a healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices.
- Solid understanding of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire safety.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Familiarity with relevant Ontario legislation, including health, safety, and building regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage multiple responsibilities
