RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the general supervision of the Research Strategy Office Manager, the employee’s main goal is to assist the leads of i) institutional flagship initiatives defined in the Research Priorities Implementation Plan and ii) select deliverables defined in the Enabling Priorities Implementation Plan with securing research funding. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing drafted grant proposals, which includes but is not limited to preparing, reviewing, editing, managing, and submitting grant proposals according to established methods.
In addition, the incumbent supports the Research Strategy Office team through other related activities such as assisting with hosting information events and meetings as well as attending local scientific meetings to liaise with RI-MUHC research community.
General Duties
- Draft and/or edit components of scientific grant proposals for funding opportunities from local, national, and international agencies.
- Conduct strategic reviews of funding applications in alignment with call-specific requirements.
- Identify local, national, and international funding opportunities aligned with the flagship initiatives and deliverables defined in the Research Priorities and Enabling Priorities Implementation Plans and promote them to the initiative lead.
- Liaise with funding sources and partners on behalf of Institute’s researchers before and, if needed, throughout a project's lifespan.
- Create lay audience-friendly summaries of projects for grant applications, institutional reports, and donors
- Interpret and understand grant application guidelines and requirements.
- Support the development of research proposals (e.g. coordinating meetings, tracking project progress, drafting project GANTT charts)
- Draft and review content to promote the flagship initiatives’ research effort, development, and research outcomes.
- Assist with organizing and coordinating town hall meetings for new initiatives such as Hacking Health events which bring web developers, clinicians, scientists together
- Maintain knowledge of latest health economic developments relevant to the research community of the institute.

Education / Experience
- MSc in Life sciences or equivalent, Medical Writer Certification (MWC) considered an asset
- At least 3 years’ experience preferably in a health institution or similar environment.

Additional information
Status : Full time, temporary, 1 year contract
Pay Scale: $52,998.40 to $98,425.60 . Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., available after regular business hours, if required
Work Site: Hybrid work model, primary office is located at 1001 Rue Decarie- Glen Site.
