Major Responsibilities
Lead and/or support R&D projects within Promatek or working closely with Cosma divisions.
Must be capable of handling projects from inception to completion. (i.e. timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, logistics, etc.).
Provide product design direction based on part manufacturability.
Prepare reports and presentations for divisions, management and customers (i.e. timelines, budgets, scope of work, technological findings, etc.).
Create patent applications.
Able to complete hands on work as required for R&D trials.
Travel to customers/vendors as per project requirements. Note, some of the travel may be outside North America.
Support divisions as required.
Prepare feasibility and pay back calculations
Other duties as required.
Knowledge and Education
Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering degree from accredited university.
Excellent organizational and communication skills (English).
Strong presentation skills and strong report writing skills
Knowledge of laboratory mechanical testing (tensile, hardness, metallurgy and GD&T)
Proven performance in continuous improvement activities; Strong skills in process trouble shooting and problem solving
Demonstrate ability to work effectively within a team with strong interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate self-motivation and determination attributes.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Office, etc)
Familiarity with automotive quality requirements such as APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans and SPC.
Must have and maintain a valid Passport and Drivers license.
Work Experience
Experience (1-3 years minimum) in manufacturing for example stamping, welding, machining, casting, assembly, etc.
Experience with controls systems (PLCs, networking, robotics, etc.)
Experience with robotics, including programming and integration.
Experience creating controls and electrical schematics.
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing environment, Office and Lab
