Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Trailer Service Mechanic to join our service team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of trailers to ensure optimal operational performance. About us: PJ Trailers Canada is a retail and wholesale trailer company, and manufacturer of the brand True North Trailers. We have stores in Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta and we sell to customers across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on flat deck, dump and enclosed style trailers
- Perform general maintenance on trailers
- Install various types of accessories onto trailers and vehicles, including but not limited to fifth wheel hitches and truck decks
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately using diagnostic tools and techniques
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical or hydraulic systems as needed
- Keep work area clean, organized, and safe at all times
- Perform coverage duties for the yard attendant. This includes operating a rough terrain forklift to load/unload trailers
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic or in a similar maintenance role
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, and electrical components
- Ability to read technical manuals, and diagrams effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members
- Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently
- Relevant certifications or licenses (such as ASE certification) are preferred but not required
- Basic proficiency with diagnostic tools and hand/power tools required for repairs
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
