ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS ROLE (Active Retirees Welcome!)?
We are not looking for the most qualified person on paper. We are looking for the right person - someone with the genuine desire to make another person's day better simply by being present.
At SageBond, we match seniors with companions who truly look forward to seeing them. Whether you are an experienced care professional, a recent graduate, a retired teacher, or an active senior yourself who knows exactly what it means to live a full life - we want to meet you.
This role is open to all backgrounds and ages, including active retirees in their 60s, 70s, and beyond.

WHAT THIS JOB ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE
──────────────────────────────────────────────
You will be matched with one or two seniors near you, based on shared interests, personality, background, and language. Then you visit them - regularly, on a schedule that works for you.
A typical visit might look like:
- Sharing a cup of tea and a real conversation
- Going for a walk or accompanying them on an outing
- Playing cards, doing a puzzle, or watching a favourite show together
- Looking through old photos and hearing the stories behind them
- Accompanying them to a medical appointment or grocery run
- Simply being present - some days, that is what matters most
There is no heavy lifting. No nursing. No medical care. Just genuine human connection - which, as it turns out, is one of the most valuable things one person can offer another.
──────────────────────────────────────────────
WHO THIS ROLE IS RIGHT FOR
──────────────────────────────────────────────
You are a strong fit if you:
- Genuinely enjoy spending time with older people and find their stories interesting
- Are patient, calm, and easy to be around
- Show up when you say you will - someone is counting on you
- Are looking for 8–15 hours of flexible part-time work per week
- Want work that feels meaningful, not just functional
- Are comfortable across different cultural backgrounds - the GTA is wonderfully diverse
- Prefer building long-term relationships over constant variety
──────────────────────────────────────────────
WE ESPECIALLY WELCOME
──────────────────────────────────────────────
- PSW certificate holders or students in PSW, social work, or gerontology programs
- Retired teachers, nurses, social workers, and community professionals
- Active seniors (60s, 70s, and beyond) who want purposeful paid part-time work - your lived experience is your greatest qualification. Many of our best companions are seniors themselves, matched as genuine peers rather than helpers.
- People who have cared for an aging parent or spouse and understand what families go through
- Newcomers to Canada with international healthcare or community care experience
- Volunteers who already give their time to seniors and would welcome being compensated for it
- Bilingual speakers - Punjabi, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Italian, Urdu, Tamil, French, and other languages are a genuine and valued asset
Note for retired applicants: Part-time casual income generally does not affect CPP or OAS payments. If you have questions before applying, mention it in your message and we will address it.
──────────────────────────────────────────────
