Aurora is currently seeking a temporary, full-time FEA and Thermal Co-op student to join our Industrial Design team. This will be a 4-month work term position reporting to Project Manager, Mechanical design. The Co-op student will be responsible for helping senior staff in creating Engineering report, performing analysis on parts.


Support Device, Accessories, Hone Solutions Design teams for Finite Element/Thermal analysis and simulation

Build numerical/mesh models to quantify mechanical performance of parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies or full products using actual parts modelled

Build numerical models to quantify thermal performance of parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies due to conduction, convection or radiation heat transfer

Build numerical models to troubleshoot particular issues that arise during development with airflow, fluids, structural and thermal performance to optimize product reliability before issues arise

Report on results of analysis, provide support for design changes when requested

Continuous improvement on modeling process, materials modeling, component modeling

Build material properties libraries (plastics, metals, fluids etc) as required for use in simulation and analysis

Validation with experimental results where data is available e.g. simulation vs actual

Use simulation tools Ansys, ABAQUS, CosmosWorks or other for best tools for analysis


Experience with FEA analysis and simulation tools

Completed Heat Transfer, Materials and Fluid Dynamic classes

Post-Secondary in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or related industry experience.

Experience in using Solidworks EPDM.

Ability to attend to details, but maintain focus on overall goals

Willingness to learn

Understanding of the ACMPR, Medicinal Cannabis devices, equipment and products

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Good time management skills

Basic computer skills with multiple software and devices platforms such as MS office etc.
