Overview:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Corporate Human Resources team while partnering with Operations Managers and Supervisors specifically in relation to employee and labour relations, ensuring that the company policies, procedures and Collective Agreements and are being followed. Integrity, attention to detail, strong customer service and interpersonal skills are all crucial for this role.
Key Ingredients:
- Acts as a strategic partner in providing employee relations advice, support and guidance with respect to the HR policies, Collective Agreements including the interpretation and compliance with legislation to assist in achieving their operational goals;

Meet regularly with Operations Managers and Supervisors to provide and address performance and employee relations concerns (attendance, corrective actions), coach managers/supervisors related to grievances.

Provide support and review recruitment and selection processes, staffing and planning as it relates to the operations
- Oversee and ensure that the day to day administration and documentation of company pay structures are correct, including the maintenance of data (pay, benefits etc.) in the HRIS system ensuring timely and accurate entries and updates.

Review Human Resources policies, procedures, legal updates, standards and regulations and develop and update training and communication.

Assist in investigations into allegations of misconduct, performance deficiencies and/or workplace harassment and present findings

Support various programs including pension, benefits, attendance management, discipline/ performance management

Prepares for and attends arbitrations and mediations with union leaders and managers

Develop and provide reporting metrics

Prepare and deliver training for when necessary.
Recipe for Success:
- Successful completion of a post secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) – seven (7) years of progressive HR Generalist experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a unionized environment with frontline and management employees.
- Experience in the following functional areas: employee/labour relations, attendance management, recruitment, performance management, disciplinary action, grievance management, benefits and pension

Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation (including but not limited to Ontario's Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, OHSA, Collective Agreements) and demonstrated ability to draw valid conclusions, recommendations and develop corrective actions.

Proven ability to investigate and research information, analyze data with the ability to prioritize workload, adapt to frequent interruptions and process changes, work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Bi-lingual in French and English

Previously worked in a unionized, manufacturing environment and experience with grievance settlements, arbitration hearings and contract negotiations.

You have a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and hold a commitment to maintaining and pursuing continuing education, or designation currently in progress.
