Teachers are expected to:
provide quality instruction within the framework established by the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development
implement strategies, activities, and techniques for promoting student learning based on each student’s prior knowledge, skills, and learning needs
demonstrate best practices in assessment to determine next steps
attend and actively engage in meetings and ongoing professional development
Maintain and submit all records in online systems and other communication avenues.

A valid Nova Scotia Teaching Certificate
Elementary Endorsation is required.
Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition;
Excellent classroom and student management skills;
Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning;
Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies

Open Vacancy Round July Job Fair

The Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education will host a Job Fair on July 2, 3 and 4, 2019 for teacher interviews for the Open Vacancy hiring round.

Interviews teams will contact shortlisted applicants between June 22 and 27 to make interview appointments. Applicants must be available to take these phone calls.

All interviews will be at Horton High School from July 2 to 4. Interviews may be conducted by phone, Facetime or Skype for those unable to attend in person.

Successful applicants will be contacted between July 2 and 5. All shortlisted applicants will be contacted regardless of interview outcome.

Applicant Responsibilities

Provide 3 work-related references, their phone # and their email addresses in your SuccessFactors application. References must be able to speak to an applicant’s teaching abilities. AVRCE will require referees to provide reference checks before noon on July 2.

Be available to be contacted and interviewed (either in person or by phone) between July 2 – July 5.

Manage your own schedule. Arrive to interview on time and follow your interview schedule.
