Job Overview
We are currently seeking a reliable, motivated, and experienced Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, safe heavy equipment operation, vehicle maintenance and job site etiquette. This role involves operating a dump truck and pulling a trailer (pup or flat deck when required), with opportunities to take on additional responsibilities such as dispatching and stepping into a lead driver role. Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and rollers is considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class One dump trucks to transport materials such as gravel, dirt, or debris to designated locations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Load and unload materials accurately, ensuring proper weight distribution and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed logs of trips, materials transported, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors and team members regarding delivery schedules and operational issues.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep trucks in optimal condition.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, traffic laws, and environmental regulations during operations.
- Ability to move construction equipment, loading and unloading is considered a strong asset
Qualifications
- Valid Class One Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy equipment, including dump trucks and forklifts.
- Knowledge of freight handling, automotive repair, and basic mechanical troubleshooting is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical ability to load/unload materials, lift heavy objects, and perform manual tasks as required.
- Availability for overtime/weekend as required
This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of large-scale projects requiring reliable transportation of bulk materials while prioritizing safety and efficiency at all times.
Pay: $33.00-$39.00 per hour
