Summary
Our client is seeking a Carbon Fiber Pre-Preg Lamination Technician to join their production team. This position is responsible for preparing molds and performing carbon fiber pre-preg layup and lamination to manufacture high-quality car parts. The role involves working with carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin systems, and industrial adhesives, while following detailed work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform carbon fiber pre-preg lamination and layup according to engineering specifications and work instructions.
- Cut, trim, and place layers of carbon fiber and fiberglass materials into molds to build composite structures.
- Prepare molds and surfaces by cleaning, applying release agents, and ensuring proper setup prior to lamination.
- Apply resin systems, bonding agents, and adhesives as required during the lamination and bonding process.
- Trim and finish composite parts using hand tools and power tools.
- Ensure proper fiber orientation, layering sequence, and material placement for structural integrity.
- Assist with vacuum bagging, consolidation, and preparation of parts for curing processes.
- Inspect completed components to ensure they meet quality and dimensional standards.
- Follow production schedules, work orders, and technical drawings.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow all health and safety procedures when working with composite materials.
- Report defects, material shortages, or equipment issues to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in composites manufacturing, carbon fiber layup, fiberglass work, or lamination is preferred.
- Experience working with carbon fiber pre-preg materials is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, work instructions, and measurements.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, trimming tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods during production shifts.
- Manual dexterity for precise material placement and trimming.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs when required.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Compensation
- Pay Rate: $19.25 per hour
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment working with carbon fiber, fiberglass, resin systems, and adhesives.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, respirators, and safety glasses may be required.
