Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hybrid position that involves legal assistant and clerk related functions
- Drafting, serving, and filing court documents in accordance with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and practice directions
- Drafting, preparing and proofreading correspondence, accounts and various transactional documents and forms.
- maintaining litigation files including e-filing documents in document management software
- Organizing and diarizing files for deadlines and limitation periods
- General executive and administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and meetings, photocopying materials, booking meeting rooms
- Opening/closing files
- Dictations
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant
- Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and relevant court procedures and practice guidelines
- Leap experience is an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- A self-starter, with a willingness to learn new things and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
