Landscape Construction Labourer

Axhorn Landscaping & Contracting is a stable and growing landscape construction company serving Oshawa and the Durham Region. We have been operating since 2020. We are looking for a hardworking, reliable Landscape Construction Labourer to join our team.
This is a physically demanding position suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of following direction and working as part of a team.
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of landscape construction experience
- Valid G Driver's License (required)
- Reliable transportation to and from the yard and job sites
- Physically fit and capable of performing strenuous labour throughout the workday
- Able to lift and carry heavy materials on a regular basis (50+ lbs)
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and operate within a clear chain of command
- Punctual, dependable, and professional
- Ability to work safely around equipment, machinery, and active construction sites
Duties & Responsibilities
- Excavation and site preparation under supervision of foreperson
- Installing interlock, pavers, patios, walkways, and driveways under supervision of foreperson
- Building retaining walls and garden features with foreperson
- Grading and site cleanup under supervision of foreperson
- Installing sod, mulch, soil, and plant material with under supervision of foreperson
- Loading, unloading, and transporting materials
- Operating hand tools and power tools safely
- Assisting equipment operators and crew leader
- Maintaining a clean and organized job site
- Following company safety procedures and quality standards
Assets (Not Required)
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, or compact equipment
- Experience with retaining wall construction and interlock patios
- Experience reading landscape drawings and layouts
- DZ License

Probationary Period
All new hires will be subject to a probationary period of one full landscaping season from their date of hire. Performance, attendance, attitude, safety practices, and overall fit within the company culture will be evaluated throughout this period. Termination can be made if any of these are neglected within this time period.

Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Occasional Saturdays as required
- 8–10 hour shifts
Experience
- Landscape Construction: 1 year minimum (preferred)
- Interlock, retaining walls, excavation, or hardscaping experience considered a strong asset
