Child Care Advisor unionized position (Full Time 12 Months Maternity Leave)
DEPARTMENT
Home Child Care
QUALIFICATIONS
- RECE - College of ECE Membership in good standing
- 3-5 yrs. supervisory experience- preferably in home childcare program
- Standard First Aid and CPR
- Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector
- A reliable car and valid driver licence and insurance
- Medical certificate of good health and up-to-date immunization
SKILLS, ABILITY AND EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years act for Home Child Care
- Experience working with children and supervising personnel
- Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen and pedagogy
- Excellent Interpersonal, communication (Fluent in English written and verbal), organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work and communicate effectively in multicultural environments
- Regular travel to provider homes within the community and the Ability to inspect and Supervise homes and providers
- Strong documentation and administrative skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Flexible to conduct evening and weekend visits as required
- Ability to develop and facilitate learning opportunities such as workshops, training modules etc.
- Commitment to learn and work in a team setting as well as independently
- Computer literacy skills must be fluent in Microsoft word and knowledge of Excel and digital platforms
- Capacity to advocate for children and their families and work with a variety of family dynamics
- Acting as a role model for co-workers and Providers by promoting positive relationships in the work environment and setting professional goals and objectives for the program
- Ability to make decisions and to think quickly
- Capacity to enforce policies and procedure
SHIFT
5 days per week
Monday to Friday
7 hrs Daily
RATE OF PAY
RECE Rate with more than 5 years experience $58,091.00 to $64,907.20 Annually + other government grants + benefits after 3 months of employment
RECE Rate with less than 5 years experience $52,275.56- $58,091.00 Annually + benefits after 3 months of employment
Annual increase as per the Collective Agreement
START DATE
September 1, 2026
