Job Summary
The role of Cafe Manager is critical to the execution of Cafe daily operations and events contributing to the overall success of the Whistler Racket Club. The manager focuses on consistent service, food safety, work safety, organization, cleanliness, speed and accuracy of service, while sharing knowledge and training opportunities with staff members. This role is a leadership role that has you overseeing the positions of CafeSupervisor and Bar Supervisor. This role requires clear thinking, a sense of urgency, the ability to organize groups, create procedures and instructions, manage a team, and create business opportunities for the Cafe. Calm under pressure, the manager maintains a friendly and diplomatic demeanor to uphold the goals of the Whistler Racket Club Café, while having a direct impact on both the guest experience and financial success of the Café.
OBJECTIVES:
- To ensure the proficient day to day execution of the Café's operations, overall success of the Café in collaboration with the Head Chef and Ownership.
- Consistently work to control usage, costs and all other financial aspects of the food and beverage program.
- Maintain and promote a high standard of quality for the beverage and service program and encourage your team to do the same..
- Ensure equipment assets are well maintained and clean, while communicating any repair or service needs to Ownership for follow up..
- Promote the Whistler Racket Club to both locals and visitors, ensuring goodwill and return visits.
- Ensure cafe and bar are upheld through the accurate preparation of product while maintaining food safety standards as set by Vancouver Coastal Health.
- Ensure private events are executed on time, to organized specifications.
- Promote teamwork and encourage others to set up the team for success with the primary goal of exceeding guest expectations.
- Support the WRC’s business goals through the cafe/events.
- Lead in the training and development of all FOH team members.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report any maintenance or repair items as required to operate the cafe to the Ownership Group.
- Maintain all Cafe areas, along with storage, in a clean and organized manner to meet both the needs of the business and those of VCH. This includes maintaining equipment.
- Participate in meetings as needed, ensuring all information is accurate, recorded and is presented appropriately.
- Communicate and collaborate with the BOH to ensure smooth workflow.
- Order products required for the FOH, including liquor, wine, beer, N/A beverage, food and supplies.
- Receive deliveries from vendors, practice food safe while accurately reconciling the invoice to the order.
- Manage bar costs.
- Adhere to Serving It Right, Liquor License terms, and food safety standards at all times.
- Reports safety incidents to Ownership as needed for follow up.
- Ensure operational changes and vital information are communicated to other Managers and Ownership promptly and document vital information in the 7 Shifts logbook.
- Follow systems, standards and procedures as set forth by Management (food safety, grooming policies, uniform policy, etc.), and ensure compliance of others.
- Comply with QSA, Promo and Discount policies.
- Proper execution of opening and closing checklists to ensure the Cafe is welcoming and presentable to our guests and ready for the following day's team.
- Complies and adheres to sign in/out procedures via 7Shifts.
- Guest Experience: Strive constantly to ensure our guest experience is rewarding, memorable and fun, and that our product is worth returning for.
- Demonstrate awareness of the Whistler Racket Club and our region in general and act as a temporary concierge if required.
- Act as an ambassador for the Whistler Racket Club at all times, demonstrating exemplary conduct.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
