COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS ASSISTANT (CDA)
REPORTS TO: Client Services Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) supports the speech-language pathologist in providing therapeutic and clinical services to clients with speech and language disorders. The CDA works collaboratively with the clinical team to implement treatment plans, conduct therapy sessions, and supports speech language pathologists in the evaluation of clients' progress. This role requires a strong understanding of communication disorders and the ability to work directly with school-aged children within school-based environments within the York Region District and Catholic School Boards.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (but not limited to)
· Implement fun, engaging, and inspiring therapy and/or treatment plans as directed by the supervising clinician.
· Conduct motivating individual and group therapy sessions with clients as directed by the supervising clinician.
· Support and provide education to clients' families and caregivers regarding therapy techniques and strategies.
· Collaborate with clients, their familes, school staff, and supervising clinicians regularly to support client needs and goals.
· Maintain up-to-date client records in accordance with organizational policies and privacy regulations.
· Document client progress and communicate updates to the supervising clinician.
· Prepare and maintain clinical materials, including visual aids, therapy tools, and client progress reports.
· Assist supervising clinicians in the development of individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
· Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions and treatment planning.
· Stay current with best practices in communicative disorders through ongoing professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1-year (minimum) experience working with school-aged children in a clinical or homecare setting.
· Diploma in Communicative Disorders Assistant program from an accredited College.
· Proof of professional liability insurance
· Membership or eligibility for membership with relevant professional associations is preferred.
· Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
· Proof of valid Auto Insurance.
· Completed Police Records Search for the Vulnerable Sector within the past 6 months
· 2-step TB Skin Test (Mantoux) completed within the last 2 years
· Ability to travel throughout York Region to service clients.Knowledge of communication disorders and therapy techniques.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Proficiency in using clinical software and technology for documentation and therapy.
· Understanding of privacy regulations and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.
· Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
Job Types: Full-time, Freelance
Pay: $28.00-$35.00 per hour
