MEDICAL RADIATION TECHNOLOGIST, INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY (IR), SENIOR
The Medical Radiation Technologist, Interventional Radiology (IR), Senior at Humber River Hospital (HRH) will provide IR technological and operational day-to-day leadership for the team. He/she will be responsible for creating an environment that provides innovation and excellence in patient care. The individual will work in collaboration with the Medical Imaging management, radiologists, technologists, and nurses in relation to IR as well as a resource for the wider inter-professional teams and various hospital programs.

Must be proficient with IR equipment, products and sterile trays used for procedures
Must be familiar with sterile technique and assisting radiologists with IR procedures
Organize the daily operation of the IR area to ensure optimum flow
Ensure proper utilization of available staff and procedure rooms
Prioritize workload and ensure efficiency in an effective manner
Responsible for the care of patients in the Medical Imaging Department (IR)
Assists with supervision and training of other technologists in IR procedures and provide support for colleagues
Participate in the orientation and training of new staff and students
Assist in troubleshooting of equipment issues. After hours and weekends, if equipment issues persist and result in downtime, call service provider as per process determined at the department level
Responsible for Quality Control in the department. Assess quality of individual images and exams with respect to their adequacy. Work with staff to ensure completion of Primordial QC notices.
Ordering and maintaining IR product inventory, supplies and reviewing/maintaining par levels for JIT inventory.
Policy and procedure maintenance and development.
IR dictionary maintenance and review
Facilitator for the IR QA Committee
Engage and participate in various projects, initiatives and committees within the modality, department and corporate teams
Must work on a peer level with department Resource Nurse, Director of Interventional Radiology.
Rotate on-call coverage for emergency procedures
Maintain accreditation standards specific to IR, MI and corporately applicable standards
Participate in patient and radiation safety incident reviews and education
Work with charge MRT in the Command Center to facilitate/expedite patient care alongside IR assigned radiologists

Accepts other duties as assigned
Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (annual training provided to managers on responsibilities under the OHSA)
Must be a registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
Preferred registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist
(CAMRT), if not alternate liability insurance is required.
Must have knowledge of and be proficient in all aspects of radiographing patients including patient care, patient positioning and in producing optimum quality diagnostic images practising the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles for radiation exposure levels and safety.
Requires a minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience and have demonstrated superior technical ability in Interventional Radiology
Achieved or working towards the designation in Interventional Radiology preferred
Previous leadership experience preferred
