Responsibilities:
Own the day-to-day integrity of the general ledger across one or more companies.
Review and prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, allocations, reclasses, and other adjustments with appropriate support and accounting logic.
Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other assigned accounts.
Support accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring reconciliations, entries, schedules, and working papers are complete and review-ready.
Strengthen chart of accounts structure, account mapping, coding standards, and documentation practices to improve consistency and reporting usefulness.
Review current accounting and bookkeeping workflows and identify opportunities to improve consistency, reduce rework, strengthen controls, and improve reporting readiness.
Support the accounting workstream for the transition from Sage 50 to QuickBooks Online, including account mapping, data cleanup, process design, and future-state workflow setup.
- Work closely with AP, AR, payroll, and operations-related processes to ensure activity is reflected accurately and consistently in the general ledger.
- Back-up Payroll
Support external accountants and internal stakeholders by providing timely, accurate, and organized financial information, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business is required
- 3 plus years experience in full-cycle accounting, general ledger accounting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end or year-end close support is required
Experience working with QuickBooks on-line is required
CPA designation, CPA enrollment, or a demonstrated path toward professional accounting development is considered an asset but is not required.
