Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Prep Cook/Line Cook to join Berto’s Taqueria. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, delivering high-quality dishes, and maintaining excellent food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, cooking, and providing exceptional food service in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred but not required, as we value enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and assist in food preparation according to recipes and quality standards
- Cook menu items efficiently while maintaining consistency and presentation
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with safety and sanitation regulations
- Assist with plating and garnishing dishes for service
- Maintain cleanliness of work stations, utensils, and equipment throughout shifts
- Follow food safety guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
- Support the team during busy hours by assisting with serving customers when needed
- Adhere to restaurant policies regarding portion control, storage, and waste management
Requirements
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or food service is preferred but not mandatory
- Knowledge of food handling, safety standards, and sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and evenings as needed
- A genuine passion for the food industry and a desire to grow culinary skills
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds
