What is the opportunity?
As Director and Head of Communications, Canada, you will lead a team charged with enhancing and protecting the reputation of RBC Capital Markets (CM) with key internal and external stakeholders through innovative and differentiated communications strategies and issues management. You will support Operating Committee members and business heads with strategic advice and in creating and executing on internal and external communications strategies that directly drive business outcomes. You will collaborate with global colleagues to ensure consistent, seamless communications across this global business.
What will you do?
Provide strategic communications counsel and guidance to Canadian CM Operating Committee members and business heads
Manage and cultivate media relationships with key Canadian news outlets, and proactively enhance RBC's brand through earned media placement
Anticipate, prepare for and mitigate reputational risks
Create and design communications plans and strategies
Lead a team of engaged and successful communications professionals
What do you need to succeed?
Bachelor's Degree or higher, 12+ years of in-house or agency communications experience
Exceptional writing skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong stakeholdering, consensus-building and collaboration skills
Ability to build relationships with and act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior business leaders
Proven leadership ability
Strong financial services media relations experience
Experience of social media channels
