Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and organized Dispatch & Warehouse Coordinator to support our daily transportation and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for coordinating city deliveries and pickups, planning efficient routes, communicating with drivers and customers, and assisting with warehouse operations, including loading and unloading freight using a forklift.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of local city operations, excels at planning and problem-solving, and is comfortable working in both an office and warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily city pickup and delivery operations.
- Dispatch drivers and monitor routes to ensure on-time service.
- Optimize schedules and routes to maximize efficiency and equipment utilization.
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal staff regarding shipment status and service requirements.
- Respond to operational issues and implement solutions in a timely manner.
- Coordinate freight movement between warehouse and transportation operations.
- Load, unload, sort, and stage freight using a forklift and other warehouse equipment.
- Assist with trailer loading plans to ensure safe and efficient freight handling.
- Verify freight documentation and ensure shipment accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Support inventory control and general warehouse activities as required.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, or warehouse operations.
- Strong understanding of city pickup and delivery operations.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift operating experience required.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Computer proficiency and experience with transportation management or dispatch software is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in LTL and freight transportation operations.
- Knowledge of freight handling, load planning, and dock operations.
- Familiarity with the Edmonton and surrounding area road network.
- Ability to effectively prioritize changing workloads and deadlines.
Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
